I had this drink at Double Trouble a few weeks ago. After having quite a few beers beforehand I wasn't sure if I was up for anything else, but this cocktail leveled me out just fine. A White Russian with a shot of espresso. Just the thing I needed to keep the night rolling with that extra dose of booze and java.
Recipes for a White Russians vary. I particularly like one with more kahlúa than vodka, but it's really up to your own personal taste and what you like.
To make my version you'll need:
1 shot vodka
2 shots Kahlúa
2 shots cream
1 shot of espresso
Semi-sweet chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Between running weekend errands, paying bills, drinking cocktails and soaking up some well-deserved lethargy, wouldn't you know it - I completely forgot to buy an espresso machine. Luckily, the neighborhood Starbuck's had me covered. A quick swoop through the drive-thru and I had 4 shots to get me through the hustle and bustle of the afternoon.
A few hours and drinks later, the boy and I sobered up enough to marvel at our beautiful, squeaky clean home.
After such a feat, we may or may not have enjoyed a beer to celebrate.
