Love Punch

It just wouldn't be Valentine's Day without a little bubbly, would it? In honor of Cupid's big day, here's a cocktail that's sure to light up the night and your libido. 

My friends and I got into a funny debate about the name of this cocktail. I wanted to call it "Punch Drunk Love", Trevor said it should be "Drunk Love Punch" and Elliott chimed in with "Love Drunk Punch". 

I guess it all depends on how you feel the morning after you've enjoyed this cocktail. Did you wake up and realize everything you felt was just a bunch of drunk love? Fueled by copious amounts of alcohol, you felt the need to say "I Love You" every 5 minutes when in retrospect, you didn't really mean it. Or did you wake up "love drunk"? The power of this cocktail brought you and your Valentine to a sublime state of pure puppy love. You can't stop thinking about each other, you're spellbound as you pore Facebook photos, and every love song sounds like it was written just for you. Your heart feels like it's about to burst!

Whichever way this cocktail affects you, at least it all boils down to love, right? So for now we'll keep it simple and name this baby "Love Punch". 

Now if absolutely none of the above applies to you, the very thought of Valentine's Day makes you want to throw up and you just want to forget it ever happened, this is still the cocktail for you. Fill up a few glasses and it will be February 15th before you know it! All that romantic, mushy stuff you so despise will be a distant memory in no time. 

You'll need:

1 Liter Organic Blood Orange Italian Soda

½ cup of vodka

½ cup of blackberry liqueur

½ bottle of sparkling wine (plus some for topping)

blackberries for ganish

Since this is a punch, I'm sure you're smart enough to take it from here. Grab your ingredients and dump them in a pitcher with ice. Pour into chilled glasses, top with an extra splash of bubbly, cheers and enjoy!

(Garnish with blackberries on the rim or drop a few into the glass for a finishing burst of spiked sweetness}

Bonus points for pairing your magic potion with chocolate smothered strawberries and fancy cupcakes.
