Banella Chip Cookies

I have a new portmanteau for your Wednesday: Banella. The dreamy, delicious miracle that takes place when banana and Nutella are combined in a recipe. You're welcome.

Last Saturday, all I wanted to do was listen to music and bake all day. The goal was heart calzones, conversation heart sugar cookies, and these banana/nutella/chocolate chip cookies which I've shorted to Banella Chip Cookies. If you can make chocolate chip cookies, you can make these - just two extra simple steps.

You'll need:
 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter¾ cup sugar¾ brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups of Semi-Sweet chocolate chips
1 very ripe banana
Nutella for filling

Preheat oven to oven to 375° F.

In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt.

In a larger bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
Add eggs, beating one at a time, to to the sweet butter creamy mixture.

Slowly beat in your flour mixture.

Stir in chocolate chips and quartered chunks of banana.

Plop heaping spoonfuls of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, making a little hole with a spoon (or your fingers) in the center for the sneaky Nutella filling.

Cover the top with a dollop of cookie dough.

Pop those babies in the oven for 10 minutes until golden brown. Wait patiently (or pace around the kitchen like I did) and you'll be rewarded with the fluffiest, lightest clouds filled with chocolately, hazelnut goodness. The moisture in the bananas help keep these cookies soft even after you've stored them in your refrigerator for a few days.

My favorite part is that you get a little something in each bite, making them truly addicting. One bite - a chocolate chip, the next - a sweet banana, next - some Nutella. Maybe you'll hit the jackpot and get all three?

Happy baking and enjoy!
